Meet Sarah – Staff Spotlight

Sarah has dedicated over six years to David’s House Ministries. Her journey here started out as a direct care worker in House Three, moved up to be team captain, and about 2 years ago took on the role of leading LEAP (Life Enriching Activities and Programs). Over the years, Sarah has built strong relationships with both residents and staff. She plays a big role in making DHMIN a vibrant place where everyone can truly thrive. As the LEAP coordinator, she thoughtfully plans monthly activities that range from celebrating national holidays and seasons to fostering creativity, staying active, and building a sense of community among residents.

One of Sarah’s favorite memories at David’s House was getting dunked in the dunk tank by the residents—everyone had a blast! For Sarah, the best part of her job is simply “everything.” She loves taking residents on outings to the beach, the zoo, and more. She especially loves water days, which are always a highlight. On these fun-filled days, everyone runs through sprinklers and splashes around, with playful water fights involving buckets of water. It’s a time of pure joy and laughter, where residents and staff come together to cool off and live in the moment. The relational aspect of her role is a real blessing for her.

When Sarah is not working, you will almost always find her at the lake. She loves spending time with family and friends, whether it’s boating, enjoying the outdoors, or traveling to explore new places. She is a huge fan of bread, garlic, and cider. Sarah has been married to her husband, Brendan, for three years and is cherishing life with their almost 2-year-old daughter.

Sarah has always had a deep passion for caring for people with disabilities. Ever since she was a little girl, she felt there was a calling from the Lord to follow this passion. At just 12 years old, she began volunteering with Special Friends at Moline Christian School and has never stopped. Throughout high school, she stayed involved with the Special Olympics and the LINKS program. Sarah has followed this passion throughout her life, and we’re truly fortunate to have her as a member of the DHMIN family.
